FOX 2 News tells St. Louis about a Beautiful Morning of Help & Hope

St. Louis got an inside look this week at something at 99.1 JOY FM and BOOST Radio.

FOX 2's Tim Ezell stopped by our Des Peres studios for a "Tim's Travels" segment on our Help & Hope morning — and what he found was a room full of people showing up for their neighbors.

What Is Help & Hope?

Two times a year, JOY FM and BOOST open the phone lines from 6 to 10 a.m. and invite listeners to call or text for prayer — no matter what they're carrying. Twenty pastors and counselors sit ready to answer, one conversation at a time.

Tim gave it a name that stuck: the Hope Hotline.

"It seems like everyone is on the phone constantly," Tim said on air. "If you're needing some encouragement, some hope, some help — this is the place to call."

This time around, in just four hours, 880 people called or texted in looking for prayer.

God Orchestrates What We Couldn’t

Tim talked to Bryce from JOY In The Morning to talk about the timing. August isn't just back-to-school season — it's a season of transition for a lot of families, and transition has a way of stirring up anxiety and stress.

Bryce talked about something the team sees again and again on mornings like this: how often the caller on the line ends up matched with the exact pastor or counselor equipped to speak into their specific situation. It's not something they can plan for. But it happens often enough that it's hard to call it anything but God at work.

Bryce said these counselors pastors leave inspired because it takes real courage to pick up the phone and ask for help.

For Tim, it clearly wasn't just a story to cover. It's a reminder of why mornings like this matter: behind every one of those 880 calls is a real person, a real week, a real reason they needed to hear they're not alone.
